Preparations for the BonsaiLive Show in Telford continue with a brand new table for my Crab Apple bonsai by David Harris.
David’s surpassed himself by creating exactly what I had asked for, a very distressed ‘plank’, made from a good quality piece of wood from India.

Calcium!
The use of Oyster Shell to add calcium to the soil isn’t new to me, but it wasn't something I hadn’t realised I really needed to use until late last year.
I was noticing that a few of the tree species I grow were no longer actually growing - extending- very well, and hadn't for a few years since I had installed a rainwater system in my garden.
Their colour was still a beautiful green, they were healthy and didn’t succumb to pests and disease. But they’d also stopped growing.
So for me, Calcium has given me a big new advantage this year and those that I've spoken to in person with regards it. I'm now hearing that Ryan Neil is also emphasising its importance on his channels and it is something that is becoming better known about and understood.
At the time of writing I’m still awaiting exact details but during September I will be launching new calcium products from both Oceana and ProBio. Both Oceana and ProBio have been fantastic in responding to my enquires about calcium and I'll be announcing their solutions very soon. We hope to have the calcium products available for sale at the Heathrow Show and Telford Show as well as online.
Please note that the need for Calcium products in hard water areas, where you are watering with tap water, is not going to make too much of a difference. It really is intended for those in soft water areas or enthusiasts watering with rain water or Reverse Osmosis systems.

New Video On YouTube!
Following a visit to the bonsai garden of Bonsai4me apprentice Syed Abbas last Sunday, I have published a new video on YouTube Bonsai Garden and Koi
Syed has built everything in his garden on a limited budget from a blank canvas in just 2 and a half years, filling it with his bonsai and a large koi pond.
Syed is also known as “owlsandbonsai” on Instagram thanks to his collection of Owls that he keeps in an aviary in the garden. Check him out!

Vinay Rathore: Deciduous Acer Japanese Maple Bonsai Cuttings
In this 4th video of a series filmed in late July, Vinay explains how to take Japanese Maple and Trident Maple cuttings successfully. Using his Superfeeding regime, he also shows how fat a trunk can be achieved with a strong feeding regime!

The Bonsai4me.com workshops came back with a bang in August with a very busy but very fun day here in Aylesbury.
As ever we had a really nice crowd of enthusiasts over from all over the uk and by the end of the day, it was lovely to see everyone working and relaxing with each other. This what its all about!
Especially enjoyable is seeing trees i've worked on in the past, around other places, coming back for the next stages of development. We even had the San Jose juniper bonsai from the book Bonsai Inspirations 2 back for a restyle (courtesy of Syed Ali Abbass!).
I should also thank assistance from Sean Stolp and Toby Wilson, if it wasn’t for the Bonsai4me team, we wouldn't get through so much work everytime.
