Apprentices Sean and Syed at the workshop on October 16th
Welcome to the October edition of the Bonsai4me Newsletter.
On September 16th we had a welcome return of the Bonsai4me workshops for the Autumn and Winter.
Located in Aylesbury, the workshops are an excellent opportunity to work alongside me with a great deal of help from my apprentices Sean, Syed and new boy Toby.
Over the course of the 8 hour day it is possible to full wire and then style most bonsai, and breathe some new life into them.
If your bonsai are looking a little tired and need advancement, rather simply buying yet another tree, why not get the help of a professional to really transform what you already have.
I think all enthusiasts leave the sessions extremely happy with how their tree(s) have improved for further than they thought was possible.
With the cost of living in the UK hitting everyone, attendance at the workshops has fallen from the maximum of 12 to just 6, but this means that everyone who can still attend gets twice as much work done in their trees.
The next workshop is on October 14th, followed by another on November 18th. To book a spot, please visit the Bonsai4me.com/store |

New Bonsai4me apprentice Toby Wilson.
As hinted earlier, I have taken on a new apprentice Toby who has been helping in the garden all summer and is now assisting at workshops. Toby is relatively young at 28 but has been doing bonsai very enthusiastically for a number of years and is slowly building up his experience.

Newly updated articles on Bonsai4me:
|
I was very fortunate to have another article printed in Bonsai Focus magazine this month. A magazine that I would read avidly 25 years ago (in its original form of Bonsai Today) it is always a pleasure to have my own work printed in it.
The article covers the progression of my Siberian Elm bonsai over nearly 20 years until it succumbed to the heat of the Summer of 2022. Both me and the editor of Bonsai Focus Farrand Bloch have had great feedback over the article and you can enjoy it too via the Bonsai Focus website. |

Drawknives at Bonsai4me.com A Drawknife for creating Deadwood by hand as well as a number of other uses on bonsai are one of the half-dozen most important tools for bonsai and I'm very pleased to now be able to offer them for sale at a very keen price.
Drawknives are designed to be pulled towards the user to help scrape the bark off new jin quickly and efficiently. They are also very useful for creating airlayers and other techniques requiring the rapid removal of bark, wood and/or cambium from live branches. Please visit Bonsai4me Drawknives |
We're just back from another fantastic Show in Doncaster last weekend. With a huge number of traders alongside the Show it was a great day! |
